For a long time people have interpreted dreams as our subconscious
thoughts, but what actually is the subconscious? Psychology defines it
as the part of the mind we cannot visualize or articulate, a place of
darkness and instinct, but to the Infinitist it is much more; it is the
bridge between the realities that isolate our awareness. If we see
ourselves die in a dream, do we not see one of the many certainties of
Infinity? If we exist in a world composed entirely of soup, is this not
also one of the infinite certain variables of the Universe? In short,
everything you dream is fact, not fiction. Even in your wildest
imaginings: It is reality, not fantasy.
When we dream we see real events. Of course, dream interpretation is
still revealing. It is revealing because of all the infinite variables
we could choose to dream of, we choose to remember the dream that means
the most at that particular time. Essentially dreams are revealing not
because of what we choose to fantasise, but because of what we choose
to experience, and what we choose to remember.
The Infinitist believes dreams are important for another reason, too.
They provide a window, a conduit through which we may glimpse a part of
our larger selves. If God the Universe is the only entity that may
glimpse Creation as a whole, then surely viewing beyond the barriers of
our isolated reality must bring us closer to realizing, and therefore
closer to understanding, the nature of God.
We should therefore listen to our dreams when they speak. If we have
done something in a dream, we should endeavour to avoid re-enacting
these events. After all, we have already experienced them. If we strive
to create new experiences we can live our lives to the fullest. A dream
can be seen as a message saying ‘we have already done this, why not
try something else?’ The Universe is clearly better served by
creating something new, and perhaps as yet undone, in the expanses of
Infinity
