Good Morning,

I was in the middle of my KEDS set up in IC with Kim. I was wondering if there are others that have not completed this process. I have no idea how to fix the errors Kim was working on, or what else even needs to be done. I am concerned because I had a new comment on an Ed-Fi error ticket created by Kim, that asked me to reach out to the state to see if they can help me. Any advice from those that have completed their set up?

Thanks,

We have completed our setup and have been syncing for a while; however, we are still getting errors, both in Campus and in the DVP.  We've just been reporting the errors to Campus and/or KEDS and they're in the process of working through them.

Durden,

IMO, the main thing is just getting the connection established and start syncing your resources in the correct order. Yes, there will be a ton of errors, but that is mostly because the state hasn’t got their stuff entirely figured out yet.  Especially with the Infant Toddler and private school students, that is where I ran into the most errors.  If anything, just start with your middle and high school see if you can get those to upload cleanly.

  1. Do you have the connection setup under  Reporting -> Ed-Fi -> Configuration?
  2. If you go to “connection” and “test connection”.  Does it say it is valid?

Happy to try and help if there are any specific errors you are seeing.

Thanks,

Yes, my connection is valid. I had started mapping and made it to Grades. Kim was working on those errors.

We were also in the middle of getting things set up. We haven't gotten to all of our schools yet and Kim was looking at some errors we had. We were also trying to figure out how to handle our alternative schools. These schools have their own building number, but we report the students under the main schools depending on which alternative school they're at, grade level, and for some why they're there. We are having our audit and the auditor has been giving me different ways to report some of these students, but how that will work with edfi was in question as well.

I was working very closely with Kim as well where she put a ticket in to work through our errors.  This transition timing is not the best.  The new support has replied to the case with instructions, but not real descriptive to be all that helpful the way Kim was.  It is an uneasy feeling at this point.

Kim had been trying to get some time scheduled with me for the last several weeks to help me with Troy and D-West mapping. I'm disappointed in myself for not making it more of a priority and having lost out on Kim's excellent assistance in getting me started. IC proper or CCS should hire Kim, if she would have any interest, to assist with KEDS and to have all her other breadth of experience, knowledge, ratain the connections with IC and KSDE staff, and her ability to understand and navigate so well. To say our loss of Kim is huge, is an understatement!!! She was great!

I have been working with Kim Warren too on KEDS syncing. We were to the point where she needed to work with the State on some errors before we could finish the process. She has the list of errors for our District.
