I'm having trouble with bhgv's Android Inferno not finding its root.

Details:
The device is an x86 tablet; Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, running LineageOS 14 (Android 7). I have just installed Inferno, getting the apk file from the releases of github bhgv/Inferno-OS_Android. I git-cloned the root fs from github, bhgv/Inferno-OS-bhgv and moved it to /sdcard/Inferno. I gave it storage permissions and unrestricted data access. (The latter I guess is a feature of rooted phones or maybe LineageOS.)

None of these things are sufficient. It comes up with instructions on how to install the file tree as if it's not installed. Does anyone here know what might be wrong? This isn't the only app with filesystem trouble. Some apps can see everything, but Inferno and a Qemu port have trouble despite being given all the permissions.

I'm sure I could compile Inferno under Termux (which works fine), but I'm not sure I could get the graphical display.

This was the problem. I substituted an old root found in the releases of bhgv/Inferno-OS_Android and it started up fine.

Now if only it would not rotate the screen and take input from the physical keyboard I have plugged in. I guess I'll be compiling Inferno for X display or something.
