wily <for linux>: in the same family; is my KillerApp.
A typical new-task needs at least 3 files viewable TOGETHER:
1: man/info/help; 2: test/sample <some cmnds>; 3: the newly created script.
wily does this with minimum keyStrokes;
but did anybody get wily's <NNTP/usenet> facility working ?
== TIA

Slightly offtopic, but how often does wily crash unexpectedly in your system?
I really like wily, but I decided to give up on using it because of this.
As much as I understand, its development stalled at one point. (Kudos
to Gary Capell, Ozan Yigit et al for their work!)

Best,
Mart

Perhaps 100 times more than `mc` [my next most used app];
but much less than "missed words" on the new/mobile-phones
in this <Trump shit-hole> location - where the previous
telcom copper-cables have been stolen.
The HIGHER question is: "how much do the crashes reduce my
productivety compared to other problems?".
Eg. after my PC & BIGscreen were stolen, I had to use laptop/s.
So now that this laptop's kybrd became problematic, I've plugged-in
a USB-kybrd. The change-over/back to different key-locations causes
MUCH greater productivety loss than wily's crashes.
With wily, as with mc, I continually save, to minimise loss.
Losses on mc are caused by MY mistakes. So it's the <crashes> caused
by the combined, me & the rest of the system, that matters.
With wily: my productivity rate is so hi, that the crash-per-MILE is
quite low.
-------
Unfortunately "Gary Capell" is a very common-name, as I found searching
for some-one to advise me on wily's NNTP capabilities.
Now I'll try "Ozan Yigit". Do you know others?

Nice reasoning, thanks for sharing!
Wily's homepage lists people that were involved in the development:

Sorry for double-posting -- it is also somewhat offtopic, but I did
some meaningless browsing and found a patch to wily's 'win' program:
https://web.archive.org/web/20050320070338/http://plg.uwaterloo.ca/~rcbilson/win/index.html

I remember I had some issues with the original 'win'; maybe you'd find
this stuff useful.

Glad to hear of another wily fan :)
Best,
Mart

A long time ago wily was my main editor for quite a some time —
until I think I got access to acme-sac and plan9port acme (and to the real thing (plan9))…
(nowadays I seldomly use one of the acme ‘variants’ :-( )

FYI (maybe you already know): there is a dedicated wily mailing list — even though the last email on it is from 2016...: https://www.freelists.org/list/wilyfans

Regards,
Axel.
