Ihave a critical problem which has effectively halted my R programming environment. I need the Java integration and rJava library as I use the R program in many other packages, and they specify this library as a prerequisite ( Rapidminer, SAP Predictive analytics etc). It used to work, I don't know what happened!. Please assist.

I also deleted and re-installed the java library rJava , and it installs but wont load i.e. library(rJava)..results in the same error message as in 1 above and when I press OK to continue the console brings up the following text :

R-studio is looking for the 'jvm.dll' file in a location where it does not exist. You probably might have a 64bit R studio installed and it's looking in the 32bit java folder. Try to find where the 64bit version of java is and inside there you will have the jvm.dll. on my machine this jvm.dll file is in

Check if you have a system environment variable called "JAVA_HOME" that points to a wrong or non-existent directory. This may happen after JRE was updated. Edit the environment variable to point to the correct directory (e.g., "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.x_xxx").

I added it to "Java Home" and neglected the bottom one (PATH) so it didn't happen. You need to make changes to the environment variables in two places. As the figure below. One of them is to add and add a semicolon in the PATH or update it if it already exists. I updated it. Problem solved. Good luck.

Now I've checked Program Files folder, and there is 100% the file jvm.dll in both the Bin32 and Bin64 subfolders of the SQL Anywhere folder after the EBF 7254 installation. Same size, same Date/Time stamp just like on my laptop that is not experiencing the issue.

The big problem is that neither SQL Central nor Interactive SQL can start, they are giving the same error message. When I check the database connectivity and service via ODBC, they seem to be OK with "Connection successful", but I cannot bring up SQL Central at all.

For the record - I ran into this problem installing SQL Anywhere 17 download by a customer following purchase through the SAP online store. We did not have the benefit of a "release notes" document to inform us of prerequisites. I pushed the installer through a number of the "jvm.dll" messages, and upon completion, SQL Central would not run. I downloaded "vc_redist.x64.exe" from -us/download/details.aspx?id=52685 , ran it As Administrator, then re-ran the SQL Anywhere installer selecting Modify/Repair. The installer completed without incident and then SQL Central ran.

I am getting an 'Error loading: C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_06\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll' when trying to replace the delivered JRE with a more recent version that I have downloaded and installed from Oracle.

Errors related to jvm.dll can arise for a few different different reasons. For instance, a faulty application, jvm.dll has been deleted or misplaced, corrupted by malicious software present on your PC or a damaged Windows registry.

In the vast majority of cases, the solution is to properly reinstall jvm.dll on your PC, to the Windows system folder. Alternatively, some programs, notably PC games, require that the DLL file is placed in the game/application installation folder.

I'm finding a number of Community hits and Google hits about the "Error: loading: C:...\jvm.dll" message I am seeing, but I've not found any solutions that have fixed the problem. However, I am not currently an SAP customer, so I don't have access to many documents that look like they may help (e.g. the SAP Product Availability Matrix (PAM) for prereqs and SAP Note 298732). Having said that, chat support has graciously provided information from some of the links that looked helpful, but so far I have not been able to complete an install successfully. They recommended that I request help here...

I found that you can specify the JRE that install anywhere uses using the LAX_VM option, so I made it further in the install process by using this (though I've not seen anyone mentioning having to use this specifically for ASE installs):

With this change, the installer starts and I am able to get through all of the installation options, I select a "typical" installation and "Evaluate SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise". Files seem to be laid down successfully, then the "Configure New Servers" begins. I select all default options except for the following:

In addition to attempting to install on Windows 2019, I've tried unsuccessfully on Windows 2012 R2 and Windows 2016 with not exact, but similar issues. I've installed a multitude of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables on all Windows versions which has helped on older versions of Windows, but never fixed anything completely. Chat support informed me that the 2015 Redistributable is the one that is required for this latest version of ASE, and it is installed (by default) on the 2019 VM that I have been focused on most recently.

SAP's offering of ASE trial is great, and the Installation Guide for Windows provides all the information if one has access to the SAPNotes and reads it carefully, which first I didn't, but as it is offered also to non-customersSAP could put some more installation instructions, similar to the ABAP trials.

Excellent! Thank you lazfreitas! I will dig through these today. I did get help with the fix for the java errors I was seeing (see below answer), and I found a little more information about the "Failed to Configure" message in a log (see my comment in below answer).

Any of the above solutions should effectively resolve missing jvm.dll errors on your Windows device. For most users, the error is linked to the Java installation. However, the suggested pre-fixes would be best since individual apps can trigger the issue.

I have successfully installed OSGeo4W64 on numerous new systems (actually EC2 instances) and had no issues. But I've run into an issue with it on a Windows 7 workstation that has a lot of JREs on it. Because of that, I set my paths from a batch to whatever JRE I need to use. But I can't get any of 64-bit versions to work:a ogrinfo --help throws the missing jvm.dll machine error message.

I have got the same as 1-st message when I update from 1.11.2 to 1.11.3 by 'C:\OSGeo4W64\bin\setup.bat'. As usual I use extended mode and choose 'Set JRE environment' as additional option to automaticly selected "Install" options. I think it's not bad to have java as an option with gdal/ogr.But it was a bad idea.

After install I can't work because of the error (jvm.dll).I trace ini bat files and find that java.bat set JAVA-environmet to OSGeo root folder, where this OSGeo pack and other, as I have several of them in other folders, have no any jvm.dll. I have JRE in other folder, but I am sure it's was not installed by OSGeo pack install.

Your version of Eclipse is trying to access a 32-bit JDK (as indicated by C:\Program Files (x86)), but either fails because Eclipse is expecting a 64-bit JDK or because the 32-bit JDK is missing - consequently you'll need to make sure to match the Eclipse and JDK versions bit wise accordingly.

To elaborate on Steffen Opel's answer the mismatch occurs between the JVM specified in eclipse.ini file and the JVM encountered and launched as a result of the entries on your Windows path environment variable. So to fix the issue, ensure they both refer to the same JVM.

To run java without giving full path it is required to add file location for java.exe to PATH environment variable. And also for some other third party utilities, JAVA_HOME environment variable is required as well.

Have you been searching for information about how to fix the jvm.dll not found or missing error on your Windows 10 computer? We are here to help. Jvm.dll is a Dynamic Link Library (DLL) file that is used in the Windows operating system. There are countless files of this type that exist in the Windows system, most of which play an essential role in the running of Windows and other applications.

Jvm.dll is required for software components that depend on it to run properly. But what if jvm.dll is missing in your Windows system? Windows will be unable to find it in the system folders, and you may receive an error message.

Jvm.dll error messages vary from one computer to another depending on what triggered them. These error messages can affect any program in any of the Windows operating systems, including Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. Here are some of the common examples of jvm.dll error messages that you may encounter:

Important tip: Avoid downloading jvm.dll or any other DLL file from DLL download websites. Most of these sites are sources of adware, spyware, Trojans, and other forms of malware, and the DLL files contained therein are usually not verified by the publisher. If you must download a DLL file, only do so from the original source.

Microsoft is always improving the Windows system by releasing updates periodically. In some cases, simply installing the latest Windows updates may resolve the jvm.dll not found or missing error. To check for Windows updates, follow these steps:

Unfortunately, finding the exact drivers for jvm.dll-related hardware devices can be extremely difficult, even for computer experts. Furthermore, trying to manually update the device drivers not only consumes a lot of time but also puts you at risk of installing the wrong drivers. For this reason, we recommend using reliable and dedicated driver updating software like Auslogics Driver Updater.
