Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a 2017 first-person shooter game developed by Raven Software and Beenox, and published by Activision. It is a remastered version of the 2007 game Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which is widely considered as one of the most influential and critically acclaimed games in history. The remastered version features improved graphics, textures, lighting, sound, and gameplay, as well as new content such as multiplayer maps, modes, and weapons. The game is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms.
Campaign
The campaign mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered follows the same storyline as the original game, which is set in 2011 and revolves around a conflict between the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia, triggered by a coup d'état in an unnamed Middle Eastern country. The player controls various characters from the special forces units of these countries, such as Sergeant John "Soap" MacTavish, Captain John Price, and Lieutenant Vasiliy Zakhaev. The campaign features 18 missions that span across various locations, such as Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom. Some of the most memorable missions include "All Ghillied Up", where the player sneaks through the Chernobyl exclusion zone as a sniper; "Charlie Don't Surf", where the player raids a TV station controlled by the enemy; and "Crew Expendable", where the player boards a cargo ship in the middle of a storm.
Multiplayer
The multiplayer mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered offers the same classic gameplay as the original game, with some enhancements and additions. The multiplayer features 16 base maps and four DLC maps, which are based on the locations from the campaign mode. The multiplayer also supports up to 18 players in various modes, such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search and Destroy, Headquarters, and Kill Confirmed. The multiplayer also introduces new features, such as supply drops, weapon kits, weapon camos, calling cards, emblems, and prestige tokens. The multiplayer also allows the player to customize their character's appearance, loadout, perks, and killstreaks.
Reception
