You will learn about the miners' process of back-braking labor done by hand and in candlelight. The guided underground tour explains how they drilled with "Hand Steels" using "Single Jacks" and "Double Jacks" (Hammers), how they traced the quartz vein using 1880 methods, and how they tested the vein for gold. You will be able to see beautiful stalactite crystals of smithsonite in an array of colors that coat the walls (the source of Crystal Gold Mine's name) and the wire silver that is still in the quartz vein. Best of all there is still gold to be seen and touched!
Can someone on the CSM explain the logic here? Can you explain to me what the reasoning was for this change? Mining was simple to understand: Insert crystal type that matches the ore you are mining. Moon mining, makes no sense: Look at or memorize a chart to figure out which crystal you need. This is the opposite of what should have happened. You managed to make ore mining as bad as moon mining.
I like the practicality of the change, although I mourn the loss of diversity and richness in the game universe. Some crystals have gone the way of Intelligence Agents and highly doubt they will return. It is up we the players to keep the memory of that lore alive.
Type A
Type A crystals II on a T2 miner has about 44% more yield than a T1 strip miner, which is really nice.
Downside is that you get some residue, which means you cannot get all ore out of an asteroid.
Type C
Type C crystals are useful when you want to quickly destroy rocks. For example when you want to get rid of less valuable rocks to make Mercoxit respawn in an anomaly, or want to annoy your neighbours.
You destroy rocks 50% quicker than when using type B crystals, which is pretty insignificant, considering you have only 11% of the yield of type A crystals, or 8.8% of the yield of type B crystals, so if you even care about getting some ore at all, type C crystals are useless.

Makes it a lot similar in high sec for sure, just need 1 crystal. No more oh dah moments realising you been mining veldspar with a scordite crystal. Everything is using the same, no longer double checking all the time the right one is loaded (which was a pita because the colours were so close).
Thank you, for the break down Gerard. I am returning after being away for 6 years and was confused about the new mining crystals. Still trying to figure out Moon ore since I dont have a moon to test on.
It got here in just 3 days and all the crystals were beautiful my favorite were the rose quartz, clear quartz, and amethyst. Especially for the price there was a lot of crystals in variety of sizes in there and the experience of sifting through the dirt to find them made it all even better. Would definitely recommend!
My bag came today and to say that I was excited is definitely an understatement. My nine year old helped me dig through and clean all of the larger crystals then we panned through for smaller items. I am amazed at how many we got for this price, especially the quartz the size of my hand. I am going to be ordering again soon
I bought this for my granddaughter and I to look at together (we both love rocks and crystals)! WOW! This was amazing! The crystals were large and so, so many of them! I expected something small but I was amazed at what we got in the two bags! Will definitely by again (for myself too!). These will be presents for all the grandkids in the coming birthdays!
Planning it out was a big part of the fun! We carefully planned out our hot springs, caverns, and crystal dig RV trip meandering our way slowly out of Florida, through Alabama, Tennessee with Arkansas as the final destination. I did it old school style; real map, magnifying glass, and some crystal inspiration, of course!
Hi Hibiscus, I know you are super busy, but I was wondering if you would consider putting together a little tour to this place with peeps who admire you? Birthing crystals WITH you would be amazing. I would definitely sign up ? Thanks for all you do.
I have the pleasure of living very near these mines. I have been to Ron Colemans Many times but have much better luck when I go to Coleman Miller Mine. Its more rustic but the precious ones I pull from there are amazing.
Love your video, very informative! In fact, we went to Ron Coleman yesterday and deciding whether we shall go to Jim Coleman, and then we saw your video. We did find some good quartz from Ron Coleman yesterday, although the points are not as big as yours, but I got a pretty clusters (not very big again) with clear points on top of it that I love.
theres a serious lack of crystal in unis with no merchant. currently im queueing thousands of rockets because after building crystal mines + investing in crystal heavy researches i literally have a 15-1-5 ratio left on most of my planets. if i dont spend it all on missiles i have no other use for the metal.
best case scenario the fleeters who dont bother in building mines but are in need of deuterium will trade me some crystal at acceptable rates but otherwise crystal is extremely scarce. as a mining discoverer i have to sell all the fleet i find to other fleeters for metal since crystal is so scarce (scrap merchant is a valid option only for those with money) and close to nobody wants to give up precious crystal even at extremely low rates.
either you save dozens of man-hours by simply adding the merchant in the unis where it doesnt exist or you need to rework the system around crystal mines, its cost and its production. adding to that, the way research eats up crystal needs will also need to be looked at.
the Merchant is an easy revenue system for GF, what reason was it disabled anyway? I can see how its a push for more interaction between players by making everyone use the market and thus making ogame a better social experience, but if you're gonna go this way then something needs to be improved.
What chewy stated...
Of all the years I have in this game I still don't understand why the Crystal mine has a 1.6x price instead of 1.5 like the other two. Aside from forcing players to using the merchant and thus give profit to GF, what other use is this formula for? As it's being shown, it breaks the game on so many levels. Researches eat crystal like hell, Crystal mines themselves eat crystal like hell, Heavy ships and Deathstars eat Crystal like hell... And of course, no one is going to trade crystal this way with how scarce it is.
Yea crystal lack became huge problem.. so i agree some update should be proposed to gf to reduce either lvl up cost or increase productio. By few %>>> .. Silverwind since ur most active team member, any way we can push any of this idea towards gf update teams? Thanks, and sorry for disturbing sir.
In the interim it's a good chance to do what can be the most enjoyable part of Ogame: find ways to adapt. Make sure you PT tech is jacked up as high as possible, and be careful what you spend and on what.Building more rounded trade partnerships, your own crystal mines, and working as a team so your whole crew isn't doing astro at the same time, etc might help.
