The Andhra Sugars Limited plans for Expansion of its
Single Super Phosphate Unit from 200 TPD to 300 TPD and
Production Capacity of Caustic Potash from 24 TPD to 50 TPD, Hydrochloric Acid from 30TPD to 60TPD, Sodium Hypochlorite from 2 TPD to 10 TPD) along with a new Mono Chloro Acetic Acid Plant having capacity of 20 TPD
at Kovvur, West Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh.

As per the the discussion we had on 19.09.2011 with
The Andhra Sugars Limited the Expansion Project is under
Panning Stage now.
The company is waiting for the clearance from State Pollution Control
Authority and that they expect to obtain in the next month ie. October,2011
The project work is likely to start from
October/ November, 2011.
The Project is Scheduled to be Completed
by August /September, 2012.

The Main Plant & Machineries:
Boiler ( Existing one is sufficient , no additional one is required
For expansion )
The emissions from vents of HCl synthesis plants, waste chlorine absorption system, H2SO4 plant and SSP plant will be connected to their respective scrubbing system. Source of air pollution from the expaanded plant will be boiler, heating furnace and D.G. Set.
For control of air pollution from boiler, heating furnace and D.G. set. Stack of 33 m, 29 m and 10 m respectively to be provided.
Air Pollution control Systems:
Heating System , Scrubber / Cyclones:
The grinding of rock phosphate may lead to emissions of dust.
Pulse jet dust collector will be provided to control dust emissions.
A stack will be provided at the ball mill. At mixer and Den, during acidulation
gases will be liberated. These gases from mixer and Den will be
passed through absorption stages as under;
1. Ejector
2. Cyclone separator
3. Ventury Scrubber
4. Multi Stage Scrubbing Towers
Scrubbing pumps will be interlocked with main plant equipment i.e. mixer so that in an event of failure of scrubber pump/scrubbing system, the whole plant gets automatically tripped. The gaseous emissions during the reaction stage in manufacturing of Phosphoric Acid are controlled through induced Draft Blower for scrubbing in the ventury scrubber.

Water Treatment Plant:
Pumps, Valves, Custom Pipeline Work, Plumbing Work
The total water requirement for the plant will increase from
1350 KLD to 1460 KLD, which will be sourced form the
ground watersource/Godavari River.
Effluent Treatment Plant
The wastewater generation from the existing plant is 1080 KLD and after expansion the wastewater generation will decrease to 780 KLD due to reduction in cooling water blow down from 1000 KLD to 700 KLD. The wastewater from process will be treated and used for green belt. Cooling tower blow down will be discharged to Godavari River All the wastewater from domestic operations will be sent to septic tank followed by soak pit.

Green Belt Development plan in 33 % area and a scheme for Rainwater Harvesting have to be put in place.
