Gujarat Colourlam Plans to Set Up
1000 TPM MUF Resin Manufacturing Plant

Gujarat Colourlam Pvt. Ltd plans to set up a MUF (MELAMINE-UREA-FORMALDEHYDE) Resin manufacturing Unit having capacity of
1000 TPM at Tadkeshwar Village, Surat District, Gujarat.
Capacity :
MUF Resin : 1000 TPM
(in Two Phases)
1st Phase : 500 Tons/month
2nd Phase : 500 Tons/month
Brief History:
M/s. Gujarat Colourlam Pvt. Ltd. is formally known as M.Sons Textiles Pvt. Ltd., a company formed by seasoned promoters of Surat. The Company was earlier engaged in trading of Plywood and now has planned to set up new project for manufacturing of Bagasse Partical Board of different sizes/specification as per the requirements of their Client.
To manufacture Particle Board, resin is required.
1000 TPM Captive Resin manufacturing unit will be set up in Two Phases (500 TPM + 500 TPM) in existing premises of its Bagasse based Particle Board manufacturing unit of Gujarat Colourlam Pvt. Ltd.

As 0n August 08, 2011 : The total project area is 28,935.00 sq.m area for current activity approx. 268 sq.m of area will be utilized for manufacturing of MUF resin plant.
Company has proposed 9612.89 sq.m. area for green belt development. About 33 % of total plant area will be developed as green belt. In Green belt area

As per the discussion we had last with Gujarat Colourlam Pvt. Ltd on 03. 11.2011, the project is under planning stage.
The company is waiting to obtain the Environmental Clerance.
The Project is Scheduled to be Completed in 1year from date of commencement : 1st Phase in First Six Months and 2nd Phase in next Six months.

Thermic Fluid Heater: 2 Nos
Capacity : 20 Lac Kcal/hr
Fuel : Coal/Lignite 8-12 MT/Day or
Bagasse 10-12 MT/Day is used as a fuel
Stack : Height : 40 Meters, Dia :1.2 Meter (Common)
Heat Exchanger, Air Preheater
Pullution Control Equipment:
Multi Cyclone Separators, Wet Scrubber
The unit will install Multi Cyclone Separators, Wet Scrubber to control particulate matter emissions.
The vent of adequate height (40 m) will be installed to disperse the
emissions to reduce ground level concentrations to satisfactory levels.

Vacuum line
Sample ports, and
Vents of the processes.
To control fugitive emissions following steps will be implemented in the
proposed unit :
Breather Valves and Nitrogen Blanketing systems will be
provided for all the storage tanks to minimize vapor losses.
Closed Handling System for chemicals will be provided.
To control gaseous emission from the Rector and Condenser,
Wet Scrubber will be installed.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS
PROCESS MNUFACTURING OF MUF RESIN
( As example : FOR MAKING 9.5 MT OF MUF RESIN)
6500 Liter formaldehyde is added in a reaction kettle. pH is adjusted at 8.5. Charging of Urea 1300 Kgs and 1500 Kgs Melamine. Heating is started and the temperature is maintained at 950C up to 45 minutes.
Then acid is added to fast the polymerization reaction and maintain pH-4.5-5. Water tolerance is checked at regular intervals. When water tolerance reaches 1:7 arrest polymerization reaction is arrested by adding caustic soda to make pH-8.5 and cooling is started. At 700C Secondary urea – 200 Kg is added and is
cooled up to 400C.

The total water requirement will be met from the ground water source.
Total ground water requirement will be 19760 Litres/day.

Fire Fighting System shall be as per the TAC Norms and cover all areas where alcohol is produced, handled and stored.
Green Belt Development plan in 33 % area (9612.89 sq.m) and a scheme for Rainwater Harvesting have to be put in place..
