K I C Metaliks Limited is going for Expansion cum Modernization of Existing Pig Iron Plant from 1,09,000 TPA to an Integrated Steel Plant of 3,00,000 TPA Steel Billets, and installation of steel Melting shop (EAF, LRF), sinter Plant, Ferro alloy Plant (Fe-Cr & Fe Mn) with briquetting plant along with Captive Power Plant having capacity of 5 MW at Raturia, Durgapur, District Burdwan in West Bengal.

About KIC Metaliks limited:
KIC Metaliks limited is one of the few pioneering industrial organisation, who had set up a manufacturing unit in Raturia Industrial area developed by Asansol Durgapur Development Authority in the recession hit industrial scenario in Durgapur- Raniganj area in West Bengal. It set up one Mini Blast Furnace of 215 m3 with an annual production capacity of 109,000 TPA and slag cement grinding capacity of 30,000 TPA utilising the in plant waste MBF slag.
In the present resurgent yet competitive industrial scenario, in order to survive and sustain, there is animperative need for modernisation and expansion of the existing set up. For this purpose the company plans to revamp, modernize and suitably integrate with the existing plant units with the optimum utilisation of existing land use, resources and infrastructure facilities.
As 0n July 12, 2012 : The Project is under planning stage.
The project is coming up on about 76 Aces of land.
Out of this, Plant Facilities 23 Acre,
Raw Material storage 2 Acre,
Water storage and rain water harvesting 4 Acre,
Product handling /storage 2 Acre,
Solid waste disposal 18 Acre,
Internal roads/buildings 2 Acre,
Green Belt Area : 25 Acre
The company has reeived the MoEF Clerance.

The project work is likely to start in Q1 of 2013.
The Project is Scheduled to be Completed

The Main Scope of Supply includes:
Boiler – BF Gas Fired
Air Polution Control Equipment:
Fume extractions system with Bag House will be provided to SMS.
Bag filters will be provided to blast furnace stock house and gas cleaning plant.
ESP will be provided to sinter plant and coal and char based captive power plant (AFBC) to control particulate matter within 100 mg/Nm3.
Bag filters will also be provided to sinter plant for de-dusting.
Dry type gas cleaning system with bag filters, ID fans etc. will be provided to ferro alloy plant. Traces of Cr+6 from Ferro chrome plant will be controlled. Bag house will be provided to Cement grinding plant..
Raw Material :
Iron ore fines (12,000 TPA), dolomite fines (5,000 TPA), Limestone (4,000 TPA) Coke fines (30,000 TPA) MBF dust (10,000 TPA) will be used in sinter plant. Coal fines (5,000 TPA) in slag drying, clinker fines (5,000 TPA) and MBF slag (60,000 TPA) will be used in slag grinding unit. SMS scrap (10,000 TPA) will be recycled / reused. Fe-Mn slag (14,000 TPA) will be used in Si-Mn manufacturing. SMS slag (31,000 TPA), Si Mn slag (7,000 TPA) will be used for land filling and road making. Fe-Cr slag (14,00 TPA) will be used for land filling / road making after TCLP test. Cement dust (1,000 TPA) will be recycled. Fly ash will be provided to cement manufacturers. Used oil and exhausted batteries will be sold to authorized recyclers.

Effluent Treatment Plant
Total Waste Water will be 1090 M3/ Day.
Acidic and alkaline effluent from cation and anion units of DM Plant will be neutralized in neutralization tank. Boiler blow down will be neutralized in the neutralization tank before mixing with other effluent streams. After neutralization, these two effluents will be mixed with cooling tower blow down in a Central Monitoring Basin. The treated effluent will be used for ash conditioning, dust suppression and green belt development. Storm water will be collected and stored in rain water harvesting pond. Service water will be passed through oil separator to remove oil content in the effluent. Sanitary wastewater will be treated in septic tank followed by soak pit. No effluent will be discharged outside the premises and ?zero? discharge will be adopted.

Fire fighting System as per TAC norms.
Green Belt Development plan in 33 % ie. 25 Acre area and a scheme for Rainwater Harvesting have to be put in place.
