Gayatrishakti Paper & Boards Limited is one of the leading manufacturers of coated
duplex board in medium scale sector paper industry.
Its manufacturing plants are located in GIDC, Vapi, Dist, Valsad, Gujarat.
It consist of two paper mills, all located at Vapi in Dist, Valsad, Gujarat.
The First Paper Mill of the group was established almost 20 years back and in
subsequent years there is considerable progress made by the group by taking over of another one manufacturing unit.
It may be not an exaggeration to mention here that “Gayatrishakti Group” is the pioneer in manufacturing of paper products by recycling of waste paper as major raw material input.
Gayatrishakti Paper & Boards Limited commissioned its coated duplex board plant in Oct, 1997 with an installed capacity of 25200 MT per annum, which is currently producing 65000 MT per annum. The coated Duplex boards are manufactured by recycling of waste paper of various grades and quality mixed in predetermined proportion and it is one of the largest manufacturers in this field.
Subsequently, in parallel earlier, one unit viz. Kherani Paper Mills Pvt. Ltd, which is also located in GIDC Vapi at about 2 kms distance from GSPBL was taken over from GIIC. This unit too manufactures coated duplex board and is referred to as KPML. It was installed with a capacity of 12000 MT per annum, which is currently manufacturing 28000 MT per annum.
All two units are already operated at optimum level of capacity utilization.
NEW PROJECT :
Now the company plans to set up a NEW UNIT (UNIT-II) for Production of
Kraft Paper having capacity of 15000 Ton/Month along with a Coal fired boiler based Co-Generation Power Plant having capacity of 15 MW at Notified industrial Area, GIDC, Vapi, Tal: Pardi in Valsad District, Gujarat.
This new plant is not including interlinked and interdependent project.
It’s a new unit for the manufacturing of Kraft Paper & proposed CPP will be used for generation of power & will be utilized for the manufacture of Kraft Paper.

The Main Scope of Supply includes:

The source of air pollution due to the proposed project will be Flue gas emission only. The source of flue gas emission will be from the stack attach to Boiler (a part of CPP).
Suitable APC (electro static precipitator) & adequate chimney height to be provided. Fly Ash handling system also to be connected to a bag filter system for control of emission. Coal crushing unit shall be connected to air pollution control system.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS:
FOR KRAFT PAPER:
a) Waste paper is sorted and loaded on Sat Conveyor where the weight can be seen, how much waste paper are being fed to Medium Consistency Pulper to slush the waste paper which comes in modern pulping system where the manufacturer can maintain the fiber strength as it is. In older system, fiber gets weaken.
b) The pulp is dumped to a dump chest through Poire Separator or Vibrating screen to eliminate other unwanted materials.
From poire separator, pulp is passed through Sand trap to an inclined Screen to extract water and then it is transferred to refiner chest.
The pulp is refined through a tri-disc refiner and passed to another chest where chemicals
and dyes are added as per requirements. Thus treated pulp is kept in stock chests with
continuous stirring with the help of agitators. Then the pulp is sent to head box of the
Paper Machine after cleaning it through centri-cleaners to remove heavy particles and additives, etc. The processes up-to this stage, it is called Wet stage.
c) The wet pulp is sent through paper head box at a consistency of 0.5% to 1.0%.
Application of vacuum in the hydro-foils will enable removal of water and moisture.
The web coming out through a press is dried over steam-heated cylinder and the paper is
thus produced. The paper is re-winded and labeled and ready for dispatch.

Wastewater treatment plant :
Quantity of wastes to be generated (liquid and solid) and scheme for their management/disposal:
Total 1480.11 m3/day of fresh water requirement shall be met from Notified
Industrial area, GIDC Vapi.
Total 16401.89 m3/day of waste water will be generated from paper plant & sent
to ETP.
Out of which 16201.89 m3/day of primary treated water will be utilized in the
process.
Balance net effluent 200 m3/day of treated effluent will be sent to secondary &
tertiary treatment.
Effluent Treatment Plant:
The liquid effluent generated in this plant after installation / erection will
be from Boiler Cooling Tower, Clarifier and RO / DM plant blow downs.
Out of 200 m3/day of tertiary treated effluent, 15 m3/day will be utilized for
coal/ash wetting & balance 185 m3/day of treated effluent recycled back to the
pulping machine.
70 m3/day of Cooling tower blow down, 18 m3/day of boiler blow down & 80
m3/day of DM plant regeneration will be reused in to the pulping machine.

Air Conditioning System
The air-conditioning system is to be designed to maintain the
following conditions in the spaces serviced:
25+2oC dry bulb temperature and 55+5 percent relative humidity for
control rooms, control pulpits, computer rooms, PLC rooms, laboratory
etc.
To meet the above requirement, air handling units using chilled water, package type air conditioning unit complete with compressor, condenserand ductwork are envisaged.
AC units/AHUs shall be installed in separate rooms adjacent to various conditioned spaces served. Conditioned air from AC units to the spaces served shall be provided by plenum/ductwork.
Wall mounted window model air conditioners have also been envisaged in some areas for the purpose of air conditioning
Conveyors: All the conveyor belts shall be covered with G.I. Sheets.
Water spray system shall be provided all around the stockpiles and dust suppression system around the conveyor system.
Chemical Preparation Plant
The mill requires a ClO2 generation plant. This plant also includes a
process water chiller for efficient absorption of ClO2 gas into a solution for
use in the bleach plant.
Fire protection facilities
In order to combat any occurrence of fire in plant premises the following
fire protection facilities have been envisaged for the various units of the
plant.
Portable fire extinguishers
All plant units will be provided with adequate number of portable fire
extinguishers to be used as first aid fire appliances. The distribution and
election of extinguishers will be done in accordance with the requirement
of IS: 2190-91.
Hydrant system
A fire hydrant network system has been envisaged for the proposed mill.
Internal hydrants will be provided at suitable locations and different
hydrants will be provided normally along the road and in the close vicinity
of the units to meet the additional requirement of water for extinguishing
fire.
Automatic system
For oil cellars control rooms and computer rooms, automatic fire
extinguishing system has been envisaged.

Material Handling Equipment : Conveying Systems, Hydraulic Equipments, Screen
Acid Pumps, Motors, Heat Exchangers, Agitators and Mixers ,Valves, Dryers, Vessels, Custom Pipelines, Storage Tank . Fire Fighting Equipment etc.
Complete Laboratory Equipments
Green Belt Development Plan and a scheme for Rainwater Harvesting have to be put in place.
Green belt will be developed in 33% of total plant area.
