Hi All,

First of all thanks to Faizan for initiating the thread of
introduction.

To follow the thread, a brief about me.

Working as a researcher in social media (privacy issues and location)
in Aalto University Finland. Prior, to which I did my double masters
from Helsinki University of Technology, Finland and University of
Tartu, Estonia. Prior, to which I worked in Adobe Systems Noida for
little more than 2 years.

My suggestions for the group is to start doing some talk series or
sessions in department and I think department staff would be
supportive for a worthy cause. So, apart from expanding this group
discussion (involving more and more students and alumni from Engg).

The talk series could be simply about inviting an alumni once a month
to talk about industry trends and their work. Also, within yourself
you guys can organize brainstorming workshops and ideation sessions.

Thanks and Best Regards
-sachin

Hi All,

I am Saleem from 2007 batch of B.Tech. (CSE). Currently working for
RedHat, Pune. ( I was working in Delhi till last month )

I am mostly out of touch from the happenings at college now but we
used to have a lot of activities in college. One of them was very
active technical group called JMILUG ( Jamia Millia Islamia - Linux
Users Group ), which also had a website www.jmilug.org (
http://web.archive.org/web/20061202000635/http://www.jmilug.org/ )

Is anyone aware any technical or entrepreneurial groups active there?

Regards,
Saleem

Hey Ahmed,

I appreciate the fact that you know each other. But writing an intro would not take much of your effort. Also, intro is not for you but people who are going to join this group for time to come. They must know what kind of people they can find and connect :)

Also, regarding the ice breaking discussion ...maybe we can start with putting forward simple ICT ideas which can help common people around you. (also realistic)

These projects have not always to be very technically oriented but could be mixing the people side as well. For example citizen awareness of computer security. I expect most of us to have a generation back at home which might be struggling with this changing time of Internet and is either left behind or vulnerable when made to use modern tools.

We can for example start with collection of topics , which could be converted to blog posts and maybe later to btech projects and startups :)

It is all about your imagination... how high you want to take it!

I think it is always good to share your ideas and get feedback . This is what this community must serve and you are already setting the example.

Next step is to now the details of the product. Start with Google and take a scientific approach and start making a pseudocode for the whole process. (some opensource stuff might help you).

Second step is break the problem in parts which you can do and somebody else who can do it for you as your team. There were also a bunch of guys I rem when I was judge at one event in Jamia who were doing some streaming with a media player stuff.  (check out with them)

Hope this helps!

Thanks and Best Regards

Dear Ahmed,

You could discuss about your idea in detail with students at
Department of Computer Engineering, JMI. I don't know much about you,
but I guess that you are a student too. Getting in touch with
enthusiastic students is a good start.

Also keep writing whatever ideas you have, pen them down in detail and
research for what solutions already exists so that you would'nt need
to re-invent the wheel yourself.

Make a strategy.

Regards,
Saleem

To Ahmed.

First of all...it would be appreciated to write a few lines of
introduction as Sachin sir said it would be for those who join this
group later...

Secondly...what I understand is that this group is for some innovative
ideas...which can be implemented in reality....

So...if u r having an idea...write it down...with all details which
are in ur head....discuss those ideas either in the class or in this
forum...either study urself or ask others for ur idea's
implementation....there are always some students out there who love to
write code for anything they can...
So just come up with ur idea...with all the details...then discuss how
it can be implemented...then may be that small idea can turn into
something big...

For instance :this idea for Nokia audio player...to write a line is
not enough...just bring it up with details...may be that thing is
already in the market....may be that thing is different...and when we
discuss we'll be able to know whether it is worth trying or not...

Hope u understand...
All d best!!!
