ImportantDeleting photos and videos from the Google Photos app deletes the same items from your device. If these items are backed up, the same content will be deleted on all devices with backup turned on. Learn how to remove backed up photos & videos from Google Photos but not your device.

Trying to start fresh after factory reset I don't want old photos on device phone gallery app I rather have old photos that are backed up on Dropbox cloud storage and keep phone gallery free for new photos not photos that are backed up on device

Do not want to share phone storage for old photos and videos I would like to have phone storage for new stuff only and cloud storage for old stuff only

If I delete photos on phone it will delete that same photos on cloud I do not want that I do not want old stuff on phone it would be pointless of cloud storage if old things are on my phone no point in online storage

When you take a picture, it takes up some of your phone's storage space indeed. However, if you upload the content into your Dropbox, and then delete it off of your camera roll, then the picture would only take up some of your Dropbox storage.

I have googled for how to delete photos in Dropbox, but the answer that comes back is to click on the ellipsis, the 3 dots, in the upper right corner - but there is none there. There is no menu to delete anywhere, and I know to be on the Timeline view, and not the Preview.

If you can't find a photo in the FIles view or don't know where it is, when you're on the Photos page you can click the ellipsis and select Show in folder. That will take you to the photo in the actual folder where it resides, and you can delete it from there.

Yeah I don't know....it's just not there. The page SAYS I'm in the Timeline...but it shows thumbnails of all the photos. The ellipsis in the BOTTOM right. When clicked on it gives a list of options, such as: Share, Share link, Show in folder, Download, Add comment, Star, Version history.

Oh well. This shows me my folders that contain the photos. When I check an individual photo OR click on the photo to open, I only find an ellipsis in one of two places: one is on the photo in the upper right corner, the other is on the full screen view in the lower right corner. Neither of these list "Delete" in the menu that pops up. Oh well. Fail for me.

I just got my R8 so I'm still trying to learn where everything is. I go to view the photos I've taken and I wanted to delete some test photos. I click the trash can button like I have with my last Canon camera. Once clicked the screen then reads "sending" but I have no clue where it is trying to send it. Once the message disappears the test photo is still there. Can anyone help me resolve this issue? Is there a setting that I don't know about stopping it from deleting? I used the camera card on my other camera and the delete function works as normal.

Usually no. Are you using a Full Sized SD Card or a Micro SD Card in an adapter. DO NOT use a Micro SD Card in an adapter. These are known to cause problems with the camera. The camera was designed to use Full Sized SD Cards directly.

Stick with Full Size Class 10 SD cards. Buy multiple smaller SD cards such as 32GB or 64GB. DO NOT buy 1 large 128GB or 512GB SD Card. If the card fails you lost all of your pictures. If you use multiple smaller cards than you have some of your pictures. Its better than losing all of your pictures. Buy SD Cards from reputable retailers such as B&H Photo, Adorama or any electronics store. DO NOT buy SD Cards from Walmart or Amazon Marketplace. There have been cases of counterfeit SD Cards from there. Also stick with well known brand names such as San Disk, Lexar & Prograde Digital. The SD Card below is a good choice.

In System Preferences I go to Screensaver and I chose PICTURES and it shows pictures I thought I deleted. I want these old photos completely out of my computer. I can't find these pictures anywhere on my hard drive yet they're still showing up as my screensavers. How can I completely clean out PICTURES?

I am not on my SL comp at the moment. More than likely your pictures are still inside the Desktop Picture folders. In SL, I believe they are in 2 places on your HD. From memory, check the following locations/folders for the pictures:

Hi--checked these places and while there are Mac photos in there, my photos are not in there. The photos that I deleted are pictures that I had taken. And like I said, even though I have deleted them they are still showing up in my screensaver

Now I am confused..... Are these pictures showing up in a screensaver or desktop pictures? Need to clarify as these are two seperate operations and folders. Have you checked all of the screensaver folders in Home & System?

Screensaver. I have set my computer to go to sleep after 5 minutes of inactivity. At this point the screensaver comes on and will do a slide show of my photos. It is these pictures that I had deleted yet they still are displaying. I have checked screensaver and desktop folders but these pictures are not in there. I have also looked in the PICTURES folder, but they are not there either. They seem to be gone from all folders I'm aware of but they still display so there must be another hiding place

Go to system preferencs --> Screen savers part of it, and in the left hand side of all the displayes, there is a minius ( - ) button. Select the folder of the images by scrolling through the screensavers, then hit the minus ( - ) button the delete the folder.

Did the minus button work for you? Ardlap I have the same issue. Minus button grayed out! So, how can I delete these 9000 photos from screen saver? I already deleted my iphoto library after putting it on a external HD. Over 116k items to delete with iphoto library. It's taken hours and now to think I have to do it with screen saver as well. Come on Apple! Grrrrr.... So anyone know of another way beside the minus button that doesn't work in Maverick apparently.

I have uploaded all my photos from the Camera Roll on my iPhone and would like to delete photos to free up space. If I delete the photos from the camera roll, will they be deleted from the cloud as well?

Yes deleting from the mobile app will delete them everywhere in the CC ecosystem, so also from lightroom.adobe.com and on any desktop installations of Lightroom CC. It will not delete them from the camera roll when you delete from the mobile app as again those are separate entities.

Is there a way to have the photos deleted from the camera roll once they are transferred to Adobe CC? Going back and deleting them manually seems tedious and I also don't want duplicates all over the place (in different ecosystems).

This is a great question. I don't think it's available now, but would be a great update. I would like to be able to delete a photo in the iPhone photos camera roll and have that sync to the Lightroom mobile app. Then that would automatically delete it out of the desktop application. Adobe should really see if adding a feature like that is possible.

Does anyone know whether improvements have been made since this discussion, or is deletion still fully separate in the iPhone Camera Roll vs Lightroom Mobile? (i.e., it's still a once-off auto-import, not a sync)

I mean, if I want to show someone a picture or a video, I can just open the VZ Cloud app and all my pics n videos are right there. So, why keep them on my phone as well? A lot of my videos are large and take up big spaces. Just thought it might be a good idea.
