Some clarification and appeal though I care a damn or MAIL-BAJI

Dear Pijush,

 

I thought to use these forums once though I am totally disgraced and disinterested about Locality related matters or rather to be very specific some unscrupulous elements and mentality.

 

First I was surprised how I was included in the fun club called “Executive Committee of Indrakanan Unnayan Samity 2012-2013” without any interest from my side and without any intimation afterwards from my so called well wishers and colleagues in that committee.

 

For one whole year I tried to request everyone (I came to know) to have some meeting. After utmost resistance could have some meeting with a mere attendance of 4 to 5 people. I was amused to note many didn’t attend just to show “they are too busy” or the “meeting is invalid and some personal attempt from my side”. That feeling also reciprocated inside me after that.

 

I am forced to feel and realize that when few times I came to something decided in some “meeting” for which I was deliberately kept in dark. For two instances when I checked each individual I saw certain things were planned and implemented just by involving 2-3 people!

 

I even attended two meetings including one in last Sunday after being merely intimated with only 10-15 minutes notice. Sometime I felt probably it was done so that I couldn’t be present and still can’t tell “I was not informed”.

 

As committee we waked up during “Saraswati Puja” and “Durga Puja” while some “lame duck” members like me asked for work, but never assigned while some busy members worked hard in the background without informing or without being present in a meeting for obvious “busyness”.

 

I proposed, discussed in a meeting and then personally wasted energy and time to prepare a revised bye-law to designate people for different works for the whole year. I circulated it in email, printed few copies (without asking money from committee) and distributed to some. Even none took the pain that it was worthless and they threw it in dustbin. Absolute “pin drop” silence...........

 

These forums were created to keep residents updated, but none took much interest to even drop a one liner and excused telling they don’t have time for “mail-baji”. Well there are many other “m***-baji” which might occupy their full time and feel using some funny words they can avoid the responsibility and prove their show of “busyness”.

 

Needless to mention by God’s grace I also remain “too busy” for professional and personal life. Also wasted sometime to do “mail-baji”, still don’t demand to show I am BUSY to neglect some duty after occupying some post. Rather once when I heard none is available to distribute the notice for a meeting, I personally printed (at my own COST) those and told all leaders that I can distribute to all if required. But total “planned” silence forced me to sit idle.

 

This Sunday I again told that and mentioned I must be informed latest by this Friday. I am also “very busy” but at least once I can try to do a simple job  

 

About  filling up the community play ground and installing fencing, when I got some indication from Lafarge I immediately

    a. posted it in Indrakanan Facebook Group (please find below the link and people who saw that).

    b. sent an email to Indrakanan Google Group, you responded and I updated (link provided below)

    c. for some others including President and Secretary, whom I know not tech savy, I sent SMS and called.

 

So I did my bit of “mail-baji”, “sms-baji” and “phone-baji” What else could I do? Still I came to know none knew it. Since it was not my daughter’s marriage I couldn’t provide a piece of “paper” or a formal “invitation” to all. I am very very sorry for that. Also when it was discussed in a meeting my father “reminded” it to all. But anyway.......

 

I don’t mind if something happens, but deliberate attempt of enmity and group-ism was not expected, mainly when I am neither greedy for any post or having some financial advantage.

 

If someone checks with Tapan Mukherjee, Lafarge Cement dealer (opposite to Lokenath temple) can also come to know that someone from Lafarge HQ also visited that place 3 months back and development of that ground was already in their planning. I was trying to fill up the land, fencing and installing some slips etc. for kids. In return they would put their Signs which was agreed and discussed among the present members.

 

Anyway being absent from meeting give advantage to show ignorance and overrule any meeting or decision if it doesn’t suit the interest. I was “abused publicly” as I was present in a meeting where some subscription was proposed by the Secretary and decided by majority.

 

In last year I along with the help of some friends and family members tried to do my best:

    a. to have BMC spray anti mosquito solution (curtsey mail-baji)

    b. to remove unauthorized advertisers from the locality, else regularize them by collecting a FEE by providing Proper Bill and submitting the amount to common fund

    c. collecting some outside sponsors during Durga Puja and submitting the fund to designated fund

    d. to have some journalist visit the society and highlight our agony

    e. to pursue for the common Drain and Repairing the Road

    f. allowing the worker to keep their machinery and materials to be dumped in our Garage room (at FREE of cost)

    g. collecting extra fund to put lights in the bye lanes during Durga Puja

    ............. and some other insignificant and small works. But this is not to take any credit as those were my duties as committee member. Still just to remind our busy members who often forget and search for a printed paper of file like Government office. Being a “vocal” committee member, I only lost some friends and earned some enmity as I can support some under cover activity. Then why my name was included in my absence???????

 

In folded hands, I request all please don’t consider a worthless and trouble making person like me for such a great endeavor by forcefully inducting me in some committee. Neither can I sit like a lame duck nor work silently being part of a pact. Hence please excuse me in future.

 

Wish all the success of “Unnayan Committee” with some capable members in coming years. There are few we all know who are committed and devoted. If the leaders are capable and working style is honest I will be happy to contribute to my best (if at all required by the committee).
