I’ve seen that picture. It’s simply cute. I’d like to know a few things from you, just to learn:

1.  What was the light arraignment? Do you have some studio lights or used camera flash? Or anything else?

2.  How do you convert pictures into B/W?  I mean… through which tool of Photoshop or any other program? I’d noticed that the white is shining bright and the black is dark as night – the perfect B/W picture. I tried “Grayscale” which is not useful anyway, other thing I tried on Photoshop is to decrees value of “Saturation”. Most of the time that too doesn’t produce desired result.

3. Guide me if you do some special settings (exposure/aperture/white balance blah, blah, blah) on camera to get such a sharp and bright B/W picture? (I’m using NIKON d3000)

Hope you won’t mind to answer my stupid questions.

Hi Amit,

Thanks Amit & I don't think these are stupid questions at all. In fact I see these questions from a enthusiastic photographer.

1. As written in my blog about lighting it was natural light without camera & off camera flash.

2. I do convert them by using B/W adjustment layer available in Photoshop CS3. I do it after correcting & adjusting colors & levels.

3. Thanks to IS Lens & my steady hands. I have taken this shot hand held at so such shutter speed (1/20). But I paid for that by increasing ISO to 400. I post process my RAW files in Lightroom & then in CS3. Presharpening in LR & post sharpening in CS3 using USM really helps. Proper metering can help for getting correct exposure. I am still practicing on that.
