Survey Results Show Ex-President Megawati at the Top
Monday, 18 June, 2012 | 15:19 WIB

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Former Indonesian president Megawati
Soekarnoputri garnered the most support as the most likely
presidential candidate to win the 2014 General Elections, going by the
results of the latest Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI) survey. Based
on the LSI survey, the chief of the Indonesian Democratic Party for
Struggle, or PDIP, received support from 18.2 percent of the
respondents.

"The support for Megawati leaves other candidates behind. Judging from
the results, there seemed to be no regeneration of the Indonesian
Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP)," said Adjie Alfaraby, an LSI
researcher, at a press conference at LSI office, Rawamangun, East
Jakarta, Sunday, June 17, 2012. The LSI polled 1,200 respondents on
June 2-11, 2012.

The results of the polls placed Great Indonesian Movement (Gerindra)
chief Prabowo Subianto as the close rival of Megawati with an 18
percent support, followed by Aburizal Bakrie with 17.5 percent
respondents. "So the presidential candidates in the first division now
are only these competitors in the race," said Adjie.

The presidential hopefuls who got less than 10 percent support was
Hatta Rajasa. This PAN (National Mandate Party) General Chairman got
6.8 percent. Ani Yudhoyono, wife of president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono
from the Democrat Party, got only 6.5 percent.
