Dear IPENers,
Recalling IPEN formally adopted the IPEN Toxics-Free Future Declaration on February 6, 2006 in Dubai, UAE at the first International Conference on Chemicals Management (ICCM).
We would like to invite all IPENers to celebrate today, February 6 as the 6th anniversary of the IPEN Toxics-Free Future Declaration. Here is the link to the Declaration:

In the Philippines, there are proposals at the Senate and the Commission on Human Rights to observe February 6 as “Toxic Awareness and Action Day” to mark the adoption of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) at the first ICCM and to promote expanded public information and education on chemicals and chemical safety issues.
Since adopting the said Toxics-Free Declaration, which expanded IPEN’s mission and work beyond POPs and into SAICM policy development and implementation (i.e., linking chemicals to sustainable development) as well as into heavy metals (i.e., mercury-free Campaign, lead in paint campaign and heavy metals in products), our global network has grown by several hundred NGOs.
Updated IPEN Look, Logo and Message
In celebrating IPEN’s mission to promote a toxics-free future, we are also pleased to introduce a newly updated/revised IPEN logo (attached).
The updated IPEN logo now reflects our toxics-free future mission and message, noting the background lines reflect the dynamic nature of each IPENer and our global network.
Participate: Translating the message “a toxics-free future”
We would like to invite everyone to submit translated text of “a toxics-free future” to the IPEN Secretariat (ip...@ipen.org), so that we can create an IPEN logo in your local language as well.
Here is to six-years of the IPEN toxics-free future mission!
Thank you for your participation and all the best,
Manny Calonzo and Olga Speranskaya
