Hi all,

I'm excited to announce the next release of Indivo X (v2.0.0)! This release represents a major step forward in interoperability by providing deep integration with the SMART data models and API. SMART apps will now be able to run unaltered on Indivo, or enhanced to take advantage of Indivo's full API. We'll be talking more about how this will impact the community at our annual Users' Conference (http://indivohealth.org/2012-indivo-x-users-conference-schedule/), which is occurring today at Harvard Medical School's Countway LIbrary.

Also included in this release are a number of other improvements, including:

Backend Server
* A new system which allows drag-and-drop customization of Indivo's data models, and retrieval of those data models in custom formats.
* Customizable data-model validation
* New mechanisms for loading sample data, including a 'demo mode' where new accounts automatically get sample data to work with.
* A new mechanism for loading apps by dropping their manifests into the filesystem
* An expanded test suite with now over 250 tests
* And (of course) lots and lots of bugfixes

UI Server
* Support for SMART apps running alongside Indivo apps
* A new bundled labs app with a cleaner, more intuitive interface
* iframe caching so apps don't need to reload every time you switch between them.
* And (of course) lots and lots of bugfixes

Python Client
* Entirely new client, based on widely-supported python-oauth2 library
* Code and documentation can be auto-generated by the backend server

As our code is now entirely on github, you can get the release by pulling the latest changes from http://github.com/chb/indivo_server/ and http://github.com/chb/indivo_ui_server and checking out the tag v2.0.0. You can also find packaged versions of the release, which includes new versions of the Backend Server, the UI Server, and the Python client, at http://wiki.chip.org/indivo/index.php/Indivo_X_2.0.0_Release_Notes.

Our documentation has been expanded to include descriptions of new features, as well as more detail on existing ones. Check it out at http://docs.indivohealth.org.

Instructions for installing Indivo are at http://wiki.chip.org/indivo/index.php/HOWTO:_install_Indivo_X, and instructions for upgrading Indivo are at http://wiki.chip.org/indivo/index.php/HOWTO:_Upgrade_Indivo_X. As always, we welcome your comments and suggestions, and we hope you'll play around with the release and give us some great feedback!

We hope you'll join us over the next two days at the Users' Conference for discussion of the new release and the future of the Indivo project, as well as a full-day hackathon at which we hope to start building some great apps. Until then, enjoy the release!
