We're happy to announce that Indivo X Public Alpha 1, more formally
known as "Indivo X v0.8.1," is now available for download:
http://wiki.chip.org/indivo/index.php/HOWTO:_install_Indivo_X
The instructions are tailored for Ubuntu Linux, and should be easily
usable on other versions of Linux/Unix or Mac OS X. At this time we do
not have Windows installation instructions; if you're interested in
experimenting, please do tell us how it goes.
Keep in mind that this is a developer-focused release to help you build
the coolest way to track problems, the most efficient way to manage your
kids' immunizations, or a diabetes-centric app for all aspects of
managing a chronic illness. Over the next few months, we'll release apps
of our own where we can be particularly helpful, but we will otherwise
focus on building the best platform for personal health.
All questions should be sent to the indivo...@chip.org mailing list:
http://mail.chip.org/mailman/listinfo/indivohealth
We will work to answer them as quickly as possible, and will integrate
common questions into an FAQ.
We specifically want to know if you're getting stuck anywhere. We
estimate that installation should take you less than an hour, and
starting to develop your app should be straight-forward following these
instructions:
http://wiki.chip.org/indivo/index.php/HOWTO:_write_an_Indivo_app_using_Python
If you have been using our staging server, we will be upgrading it today
to this latest version, which will delete any data you may have stored
there. We plan to continue to operate this staging server for at least a
few more months while we continue to make it easier to install Indivo X
on your own.
In the next few days, look for:
(a) public bug tracker
(b) roadmap for Alpha 2, 3, and Beta 1.
We look forward to your feedback!
