Kaianereh'ko:wa and the Aln8bak Abenaki
In 1701, at an assembly attended by 1000s of Indigenous peoples known
as the Great Peace of Montreal, the Wabanaki (Aln8bak Abenaki) accepted
the Kaianereh'ko:wa Great Law of Peace (Great Good Way), agreeing to
"bury the hatchet" and live under the Great Law of Peace, also known as
the Iroquois Constitution, est. ca 909 CE on A'nowara:kowa, Great
Turtle Island.

The Kaianereh'ko:wa was used later on by the Americans as a model for
the constitution of their republic, although they did not respect the
rights of women and children, or the rights of Indigenous peoples for
that matter.
This also meant that Abenaki Aln8bak accepted to observe the first
treaty between Europeans and Indigenous peoples, Kaswentha / Guswenta,
the Two-Row Wampum treaty est 1613. This year, 2013, is the 400th
anniversary of that treaty.

These treaties are still in effect.
