The HP - VMware Engineering group at HP is pleased to announce that the HP custom image for VMware ESXi 5.0 U1 is now available at VMware’s website. This image is fully certified and is supported by both VMware and HP. The images can be found at:
The image is available in two forms. The first is the traditional ISO format that can be booted for traditional installation. It is fully compatible with ProLiant Gen8 Intelligent Provisioning as well as for use with the iLO virtual media capability. The second format is a Depot.zip file that can be directly used with VMware’s AutoDeploy feature. This means that customers who choose to use AutoDeploy will not have to create their own custom depot.zip file. Instead, they can download the HP depot.zip file and use it with their HP ProLiant servers. Both file types have the same contents.
The HP custom images contain all of the required drivers and management components to fully support HP ProLiant Gen8, G7, G6 and G5 servers. These images do not contain the license file that was required for images hosted at HP.com, eliminating some of the headaches that customers faced with the images from hp.com. For a complete list of the contents of the HP custom images go to:
The image that is currently available is our June 2012 image that added support for the Gen8 Snap 2 servers. Although the VMware site indicates that the image was released on March 15, 2012, it is actually our June image. We are working with VMware to correct the release date field.
