Hi! I've been drawing a bit here and there, but then I got the
inspiration for making a series of cartoons. Having tried a lot of
Line art stuff in PS, creating this was simple. Sketching by hand,
scanning it and then using GIMP for colouring

Do have a look. :)

Subscribed. Will go through the comics eventually.. Look nice! :)

One tip though: (And this is true for many other comics) - The comics are not readable at default zoom. Have to click to get the larger image. I wonder if this is a blogspot thing, because it's quite common.

I assume you're making it primarily for the web? Why not design at a size that is viewable by default. You can go infinitely vertical and have the width stuck at 400/500/600 px.

I agree, but it's not possible to change it because it's a blogspot
problem... maybe if I have a substantial number of comics ready in a
few days, I'll make a separate website.
Thanks a lot!

I really like your style. Kinda reminded me of http://www.daniellecorsetto.com/gws.html
The character Hazel especially, other than the style :)

I agree with Saad, try and find a blogspot template that allows for width = width of your comic. (there are tonnes of options available)

Subscribed! Hoping to see lots more.

Cartoons and cyclist! I might just have a crush on you now :)

Cheers,

It's a blogspot thing then... No wonder so many webcomics prefer wordpress+comicpress combo.

If you are planning to make this a regular thing, maybe you'd consider shifting to a self hosted domain with wordpress running on it? I mean, blogspot will only get you this far.... Starting plans for domain+space are quite cheap.. Couple of hundred rupees/year etc.

Check out comicpress: http://comicpress.org/

I'd suggest if you have not popularized your comic yet, then first decide if you want to self-host it in the near future. If yes, then first move to hosting first, then publicize. Otherwise there's the problem of transferring subscribers, down time, loosing google ranking etc.

blogger has pathetic editor too, the only thing why I am still stuck with blogger is you can edit the layout yourself (and my inertia since I started the blog) and it has Hindi transliteration in built  that is why I use tumblr for my visualizations.

@Saad: What are the overheads of getting a domain + host and use Wordpress at the back-end? Do I have to manage complexities of handling a server myself?

Thanks guys!
@Shashidhar: Wow... its scary, this likeness. Maybe she's my spiritual
twin...
@Saad: I really don't know if this is worth publicising, but I was
thinking of building a site for my photography anyway, so might as
well club it together with that. Lets see what I can come up with.
@Prateek: I find blogspot not so easy to use... but since I already
had a blog there, i decided to start another one with the same
profile.

Prateek:
Actually the overheads are negligible. The only expense is domain + space. I use GoDaddy for domains and Dreamhost for space. Domains are ~$10/year, don't remember the hosting but that too is not very expensive. $25 I think. For unlimited space/bandwidth and subdomains. A good deal..

There are some really cheap offers by hosting providers but they usually end in disaster. I started out with a $10/year plan from one.com - They have terrible service, restrictive servers/backend and when I switched over to dreamhost, my site was down for 2 weeks with little help from them. Quite a bad experience.

So I'd recommend DreamHost and other "in the middle" hosting people. Overall it's not much... comes to around 1000-2000 per year. You'd spend this on a night out with friends. I'd say a good investment.

Wordpress is free. Comicpress is free (although I dont use it) and hundreds of other WP themes are free. You can find one that fits your needs.

The managing server part is easy. In fact you don't have to do anything once wordpress is installed. And it's easy to install (one click from the control panel).

Meghana:
What do you mean not worth publicizing? Always publicize your webcomic! You've already put in the effort and it's going great... :)

Nice comic Meghana

I agree with Saad.  When you have come this far putting all the effort into the comic, it  is worth it to make it viewer friendly.

Nice cartoon Meghana, added to my feed reader.

My attempts at re-telling old fables:

The Thirsty Crow http://thequark.wordpress.com/2010/01/14/the-thirsty-crow/
the fox and the grapes – reloaded http://thequark.wordpress.com/2010/01/14/the-fox-and-the-grapes-reloaded/

My blog is bilingual (hindi or english) with posts on my views on cinema, my experiences etc. I do create occasional cartoon or hindi cinema quizzes. If you are interested then you can browse the quizzes through this tag link: http://thequark.wordpress.com/tag/quiz/ (there are interesting prizes to be won so do participate)
