Hi Alka,
Actually the tree was only named after Countess Amherst and her daughter, Lady Amherst - 'promoters of Indian Botany' (Blatter and Millard) - and was brought to the Botanical Garden in Calcutta from it's native southern Burma (Myanmar) by Dr Wallich.
