Place: Kass Plateau, Approx. 20 kms north of Satara, Maharashtra.
Location of flower / plant: On Plateau at high elevations

Date: 21st Sep'08

Equipment: Canon 40 D Camera + Tamron 90 mm macro lens

Species: Pleocaulus ritchiei
Synonyms: Strobilanthes sessilis, Strobilanthes sessilis var. ritchiei

Local name (Marathi) : Topli Karvi or Mal Karvi

Notes: Though it is mentioned that this species flowers after every 7 years, We have seen this mass flowering on Kaas Plateau, Satara for 2 consecutive years in 2007 and 2008.
