Dear members,
I am attaching herewith a few photographs of a tree  for ID.  Photographed in Chennai.  For me this one looks like a species of Sterculia :  S. apetala.  Please confirm or suggest the proper ID.

POWO does not give its distribution.
Also could not find its reporting in India.
Fruits and flowers in the 1st two images look different.
Are there two sets of trees?

Dear Garg ji,
This is what the sender of the photographs  said on referring your query  :
"Flowers are from same tree. Looked like the tree had fallen and so one branch is on the ground and looks like a clump style tree. From the main point this tall tree of 40 feet is towering the canopy.
Tree is in theosophical society.
Fallen fruit may or may not be from this tree. Did not look like any other big tree around so  I assumed it is from this tree.
There are a few flowers on the tree so will wait for a few months to see how they turn out."
For kind perusal .

Garg ji,
In the communication justnow received the sender says
"This is the tree to give an idea and the branch /trunk running on the floor had these leaves in close up."
Photo attached.

Garg ji,
The tree is in Theosophical society campus, Adyar Chennai.
I am sure the Id suggested by me is correct.  As  this tree  has been planted / introduced  ( an isolated case)  the POWO  cannot   recognise  its  distribution .   This international  campus has many  exotic trees / plants planted by foreign  visitors from various countries.  This tree,  also, has been planted by a foreign visitor  decades back.
Furthermore, the tree has been recorded by  one of the distinguished taxonomists of Chennai as S.apetala,  located in Theosophical society.
For your kind information.
