Talipariti tiliaceum (L.) Fryxell, Contr. Univ. Michigan Herb. 23: 258, 2001

syn: Hibiscus tiliaceous L.

Common names: Beach hibiscus, cotton tree, Hawaiian tree hibiscus,
                          linden hibiscus, mahoe, ountain mahoe, sea hibiscus


Evergreen shrub or small tree with ovate to orbicular unlobed leaves 7-20 cm long, large stipules; flowers clustered near ends of branches, epicalyx forming a 7-12-toothed cup; petals up to 7 cm long, yellowish or white when young with brownish red base, fading to orange-yellow to deep red; staminal column included.

Yes Muthu ji it is common to confuse the two. Perhaps these points should help

Stipules linear-lanceolate, 5-8 mm long              Stipules foliaceous, clasping stem, 1-3 cm long  
Flowers solitary axillary                                    Flowers clustered at ends of branches
Pedicel jointed                                                 Pedicel not jointed
Epicalyx segments 3                                        Epicalyx cupular, 7-12 toothed
Staminal column 1 cm long                               Staminal column 3 cm long
Capsule 5-celled, 2-4 seeds in each cell             10 celled, seeds many
