Curculigo orchioides - 5th wild flower seen of this season

Hi,
I saw only one plant of Curculigo orchioides on 9th June 2010 and today it is all over.
Bot. name: Curculigo orchioides
Common name: yellow ground star
Marathi name: kali musali
Family : Hypoxidaceae

.... do not believe so, dear Shubhada ... these flower throughout monsoon ... got their photos in June, July, August, September.

Dear Dinesh,
I know they flower throughout the monsoon. But I am putting up pics of wild flowers in chronological order as i see them. ( The order is Amorphophallus, Pancratium, Chlorophytum, Crinum, Scilla and Curculigo.  Next one is Cucurma)

Syn – Curculigo malabarica Wight

sanskrit - तालमूली, मुसली

Kannada - ನೆಲತಾಳೆ [ Nelataale ]

Tulu - ನೆಲಮುಂಡ [ Nelamunda ]

Common in grasslands.

Flower : June- October [ In Some texts mentioned that Fl.& Fr:
September-September ].

Medicinal Properties:

Rhizomes used in piles, jaundice, asthma, diarrhoea, gonorrhoea,
demulcent, diuretic & aphrodisiac.

Used for itch and skin diseases.

Tamil Name: Nilappanai kizhangu GôŠð¬ù‚Aöƒ° (means the tuberous root appears like a miniature palmyrah trunk!)
