This flower picture I took in Tadoba third week of April,2009 When I
was with Nature India - Mr Adesh Shivkar.
I was told this is State flower of Maharastra.
Please give ID .Thank you in advance.

only the other dy somebody had informed on this site that Lagerstroemia sp. is the state flower of Maharashtra,,The flower posted by you does not look to be  that,

On the maharashtra gov. FD website, there is little description of
state flower, which I am pasting here.

Lagerstroemiaspeciosa Jarul

Ornamental. The State flower of Maharashtra.The leaves are purgative
and diuretic. Thebark is considered stimulant and febrifuge anda
decoction or infusion is given in abdominalpain and diarrhoea. The
roots are consideredastringent, stimulant and febrifuge and seedsare
narcotic.

... I too believe it to be L. speciosa, the Giant Crape-myrtle.
