Came across this herb along the banks of river vidyadhari (Bengali: বিদ্যাধরী), in the district of South 24 paraganas, West Bengal. This seems to be Alternanthera paronychioides, but also A. sessilis shows a range of phenotypic plasticity like this. Bract characters are not very demarcating, the habit is completely prostrate. Please try to confirm the species.

I think A. sessilis only, A. paronychoides has more mat-forming habit and larger inflorescence.

Gurcharan Sir, I think it should be Alternanthera paronychioides .. as pointed out by Samragni Ji..!!
The roots can be seen at every node..
