Basic Photo Techniques (Urbanscape)

1. Always speak to your subject, so that they will not feel awkward.
2. Capture Human Interaction – e.g. A customer bargains with shop-keeper.
3. Find Ways of being Unseen – Not to make your subject too much
conscious of you & your camera. e.g. Capture an aerial view
from balcony or shoot from your waist using a wide-angle lens.
4. Focus on the eye of the subject.
5. Look for the Ironic – Capture paradoxical moments with ironical
situations in around your subject. e.g. Juggler show.
6. Play with Shutter-speed - Use a fast shutter-speed of around 1/125
seconds to make deliberate use of motion blur, if your subject
is sharp.
7. Respect Your Subject & his Wishes - In ‘Make a Photo’, capture
your subject at his wish only.
8. Sense of Comfort - Be comfortable with your subject & surroundings.
9. Slow Sync Flash (SSF) – Use SSF for action-packed portraits to
combine slow shutter speed and a burst of flash.
10. Use the Blurred Backgrounds - To avoid clutter by using wide
aperture of f/2.8; In case of basic kit lens, try zooming into the
telephoto-end of your lens and use an aperture of f/5.6.
11. Use the Urban Element – Capture environmental portraits to include
its proximity.
