I confirm it is M.calabura, commonly known in Chennai as Singapore cherry.  In Mysore,  these are known as gasa gase mara.   These are commonly seen in restaurants (  outskirts of Mysore) as shade tree for customers to dine under the tree.   These trees possess umbrella like canopy and produce sweet cherrys.  They produce flowers throughout the year and attract plenty of birds.

Dear swamyji and others,
M calabura is also known as Bird's cherry, poor man's cherry, Jam tree and Cotton candy berry. In malayalam it is known as panchara (sweet) ppazham (fruit).
