Dear Dr. Garg-ji and Dinesh-ji,

I hope this message finds you both well.

A few weeks ago I received some very welcome news from the American Botanical Council that I was being honored with their 2026 ABC James A. Duke Excellence in Botanical Literature Award for my 2024 book (Healing Plants of South Asia) for which both of you were so helpful. I thought you might find this interesting.  Attached is their press release, issued just yesterday. If you think this may be of interest to others in the eFloraofIndia network, perhaps you could be so kind as to share this news

When you have the chance, it would be great to hear from you. In the meantime, all the best to you.

With warm regards,

John

Many thanks, Dinesh-ji. Your support and that of Garg-ji - not to mention your willingness to let me use so many of your beautiful photos in this book - were very important to me it its preparation. Though I am technically 'retired' from my earlier position with the U.S. Forest Service, I am nonethless working on a new book, along similar lines as the last one, focused on the medicinal flora of the Caribbean region - another biodiversity hotspot with very diverse cultural influences and traditional medical systems.

Best wishes,

John
