These plants were growing near streams and all of them were yellowish. the leaves were yellow. Are they ferns? their new leaves are coming up like coiled fronds. i mean they look like ferns. But i found no spores on them. Can you please help me identify them?

Yes, they are indeed ferns, being juvenile they are not fertile yet as young Osmunda is one of the ferns that doesn't become fertile until fully mature (many others can be even when very small).

Assuming it is peninsular India (you must obviously mention the State at least!) it is juvenile O. hilsenbergii (= O. acuta).  IC 1: 92 (2016).

Yes, fine, Dr. Garg told me already.  I had guessed it was way down south somewhere because of the use of the word taluk for town, which I know from the late Father Manickam's fern-specimen labels.
