Dear Friends,
Seen this erect herb en-route Joshimath.
Looks like some Habenaria sp.??
Family: Orchidaceae.

Indeed a good find. This is a new record for western Himalaya !!!!!
Kew treats this as synonym of Habenaria foliosa but I truly believe that its Habenaria gibsoni a distinct species.

This synonymy is perfectly wrong.
Habenaria foliosa is a different plant
Habenaria gibsonii var gibsonii and Habenaria gibsonii var. foetida
are distinct.
Habenaria digitata is obviously a separate thing.
The plant here is one of the varieties of Habenaria gibsonii. If it
smells good then its Habenaria gibsonii var. gibsonii and if it smells
bad then it should be Habenaria gibsonii var. foetida.
If i had to guess this plant should be Habenaria gibsonii var foetida
owing to the slightly longer upper segment of the petal. Second thing
is the smell which I can find out from here.

Thanks for these information sir.
All the names according to KEW. I have no much more idea about the
species because I don’t see the live specimen till now. I know this
species only from literature.
