Dear Friend, I came across a Cashew nut tree at this place today.Scientifically this tree is known as Anacardium occidentale.According to Chakravarti S Venkatesh the species was introduced in India from its native South America in 16th century by the colonial Portuguese.Brightly coloured part is not the fruit (this is known as Cashew apple and is used in wine industries). You will see the kidny shaped small fruit at the tip of the apple.Attaching two images of the plant. You may like.
