Dear friends,

Small tree (could grow to become grand, I suppose) at Yeoor Hills (14 NOV 09).
Looks to me like Terminalia, but am confused about species.

ID please.
Regards.

Dear Dinesh,

Interestingly does not appear to be Terminalia. Trewia or Croton of
Euphorbiaceae? I'm also confused, certain features are not tallying.
Will come back on this. Regards

Looking at number of stamens, Mallotus appears a better candidate.

Dear Dinesh,

Yes for Mallotus philippensis, yet the inflorescence is not erect and
it lacks the rusty pubescence. Rgds
