Picture taken at Pahalgam, Kashmir on the 7th of Sept,11.
Found growing wild on a slope very close to Lidder River.
These look similar to the ones posted by Prashant ji.....Rosa webbiana from Ladakh. 
Kindly confirm.

On the basis of the hips (unfortunately not in close-ups but still appear quite distinctive) I am in agreement with Dr Singh that this is probably
Rosa macrophylla.
