Respected Garg ji,

In the provided key it is mentioned that leaf length is less than 2cm in S.thea

But i don't agree with this i myself just checked leaves of my above shared plants but they are reaching upto 5/6cm long and 3cm wide at maturity/base

Moreover similar size is mentioned in other efloras ie.FoP and FoC also and this species is highly polymorphic in pubescence, dentation and size of leaf...

As Rawat sir has provided the key so i feel rest of it is correct, as of now i don't have experience with other sp. so can't say but will try to find more species and compare in near future...

Best regards

Respected Garg ji,

Sorry for delayed reply, i have studied and photographed specimens in detail though i haven't compared with keys in that paper....

Actually i am in field currently at higher elevations with limited network access and will be only back only by near mid August.
So will post detailed analysis thereafter....

Best regards

Respected Garg sir,

I have just examined the live plants and i will say our species is only Sageretia thea based on the following observations -
Inflorescence long spike which is as much as 2-3 times longer than length of subtending leaf, having flowers 20 to more than 30 with occasionally more than one flower at some floral nodes.
Leaves abaxially pubescent more hairy along midrib and veins , abaxially glabrous
Young branches minutely pubescent, bracteoles generally three dried, brown and fragile.
Also i am unable to see any demarcating line between ovary and style present in S.devendrae.

Following FoP i feel Sageretia thea is highly polymorphic sp. and variation occurs in leaves shape and crenation also the bracteoles are soft, self broken and are intact in only few flowers. Please see comment on this sp. in FoP

So it must be only Sageretia thea atleast for now...
I have attached some closeup fresh images to make it easier...

Best regards
Ashutosh Sharma
