There are two species of  Calotropis.  One is C. procera and another is  C.gigantea.   One has to  refer to the local flora for  the  detailed morphological characters.

Let me add some more information, in Bengali both species are called
Akanda (perhaps meaning without stem). Essential for worship of Lord
Shiva.
There were many plants in that Island, I made a count, of 33 plants I
counted 9 were white flowered , 24 violet flowered, so it gives simple
Mendelian ratio, indiucating white fl. is a recessive character. In
Bengal both type flowers can be obtained. However, the photo is from
Orissa. - Sibdas Ghosh

From the website cited from you the plant seems to belong to gigantea.
I did not mention earlier, I counted 33 plants in the island, of which
9 were white flowered and the rest violet flowered, giving a simple
Mendelian ratio. the white flower is not common being recessive in
nature-

From the website cited by JMGarg, it seems the plant belong to the
speies gigantea, being tall and with sub-sessile leaves- Sibdas Ghosh
