This is actually called 'False Alexandrian laurel'. Tamil : Pinnai -
a sacred tree, planted sometimes in Pinnai ( seen in Mylapore temple,
Chennai). Many medicinal uses especially the oil from seeds. See
earlier posting in e-flora.

Correction. Please read 'planted sometimes in Pinnai' as
' planted sometimes in temples'
