Species:Schleichera oleosa .
Family : Sapindaceae
CommonName :Kusum, Koshimb,Ceylon oak.
Habit :Tree
Description :
Rachis 6-15 cm long. Nerves 18-20 pairs, prominent beneath. Fruit dry,
crustaceous with persistent style base and few prickles near the apex,
in axillary racemes; stalk to 1 cm long.
Leaf Arrangement: Alternate
Leaf Type : Paripinnate
Petiole : Sessile
Leaflets : 3 - 5 pairs
Inflorescence: Axillary Raceme
Flowering Month: February - May
Fruit : Drupe
Fruit Shape : Ovoid
Fruiting Month : April - June

Thanks for the details about the plant. But this plant is best known
as Lac tree, as it serves as the host of lac insects. The plants grow
well in the Bengal-Jharkhand border areas, and here once lac-industry
flourished very well. However, with the introduction of chemically
prepared varnishers, use of lac has been restricted.
