Dear Narendraji,

Nice photo...

Embelia ribes (Bnsm) is known as 'Embelia' in English, 'Paavak' 'पावक' in Sanskrit and 'Vaivrang' 'वैवरंग' in Hindi.
As yor say it is useful in Ayurvedic medicins. It contains, Essential oil, Embelic acid, Embelin, quescital, Fatty ingredients, Alk. Cpristambine, Resinoid, Volatile oil etc....
(Ref.- 'महाराष्‍ट्रातील दिव्‍य वनौषधी' 'Medicinal Plants of Maharashtra' written by Sadashiv Yashavant Sawant and published by Rutuparna Kulkarni (Continental Prakashan, Vijayanagar, Pune- 411 030) for The Maharashtra Universities Book Production Board,

Hi

The fruits of Embelia look very similar to the fruits of Piper sp.
(Black pepper), and are used to adulterate Black Pepper since it is an
expensive spice.
