Just wondering, could this be Hydnocarpus macrocarpus (Bedd.) Warb. (Achariaceae)? The species name is spelt as macrocarpa in some sources.

Best wishes, Viplav

Does this fruit belong to the same individual tree bearing the flowers in your first set of images? It would have to be last year's fruit.

This is an important find of an uncommon species that has been assessed as Vulnerable to Endangered. Your description of the "streamside" habitat fits quite well.

Best wishes, Viplav

Dear Viplav ji,

Thank you very much for your message. The fruit image is of an another individual and the same isn't posted earlier of doubting.

Good population here, some with only fruits, some started to blooming but haven't matured or immature fruits, some yet haven't flowers neither fruits.

Here it is wet biome and growing not only in streamside, but seems everywhere.  Rarely, some small trees also flowering, but number of flowers are very low.

There was a strange flower smelling in surroundings of the tree and fallen flower collected as specimen.

With kind regards,
Sam Kuzhalanattu.

Thanks Sam ji. Your first set of close-ups is of the male flower with what appears to be a short, aborted pistil. Do look out for the female / bisexual flower with the lobed stigmas.

Best wishes, Viplav
