The leaf samples appear to be of a Rosaceae member. Note the characteristic petiolar glands in the second image.

That was my first impression too while looking at the leaves in isolation. But is it possible for Prunus cerasoides (with its diagnostic ringed, peeling, darkish bark) to have the plain, pale bark seen in the first image?
