Strobilanthes dyerianus, the beautiful ornamental grown as foliage plant, rarely flowers/allowed to flower. It was found flowering in Nauni University Campus, Himachal Pradesh, clicked on May 28, 2015.

Kon. Ned. Akad. Wetensch., Afd. Natuurk., Tweede Sect. 41(1): 195 & 274. 1944; Karthik. & al., Fl. Pl. India 1: 48. 2009. Type: A specimen cultivated at Kew in Feb 1916, (neotype: K, n.v.).

Strobilanthes maclellandii C.B. Clarke in Hook.f., Fl. Brit. India 4: 453. 1884; Perilepta maclellandii (C.B. Clarke) Bremek. in Verh. Kon. Ned. Akad. Wetensch., Afd. Natuurk., Tweede Sect. 41(1): 195 & 279. 1944. Type: Burma (Myanmar), Rangoon, MC Lelland (holo.: K)

Strobilanthes maclellandii var. latipes C.B. Clarke in Hook.f., Fl. Brit. India 4: 454. 1884. Type: Burma (Myanmar), probably Pegu Yoma but relabeled “Tenasserim” in another hand, Beddome (holo.: K, n.v.).




Native of Myanmar and Thailand: In India, cultivated
