There is occurrence of single species of Cereus i.e. Cereus repandus in Assam (according to Plantes Assam – Current Taxonomic version of the Vascular Plants of Assam by Prof. Sudhangshu Chowdhury). Also Flowering Plants of India – an Annotated Checklist, Dicotyledon Vol.1 (BSI)reported that Cereus repandus commonly grown almost throughout India, but Cereus hexagonus only found in UP.
