Dear All,

An erect medium sized coastal tree; bark pale coloured, smooth. Leaves 20-40 cm, obovate, coriaceous, sessile, crowded at the end of branches. Flowers in terminal erect corymbose racemes 30-50 cm long. Flowers 15 cm wide, strongly fragrant, opening at night and fading before morning. Fruits 10-15 cm long, ovoid, green, 4 angled.

Originates from mangroves of south-east asia, planted on sandy shores in the tropics. Best location to watch this beautiful tree is Marine Drive sea front in Mumbai. To enjoy the amazing beauty of these flowers you have got to be there at 10 pm. The flowering season begins now.
