Thanks dear Sam ji for your efforts and elaboration.Let us wait for more natives to come forward and validate that the name mentioned in Wikipedia is incorrect. That Wikipedia page is in public domain, and some author has written and published that page. I am sure this author must be a native of Kerala as well as a thorough Malayali language speaker. I am of the opinion that the correction must first occur in that page rather than my blog - which is merely a reflection of what I gather from the internet and natives. In this Wikipedia page - https://ml.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%B4%95%E0%B4%BE%E0%B4%A8%E0%B5%8D%E0%B4%A4%E0%B4%82_%E0%B4%95%E0%B5%8A%E0%B4%B3%E0%B5%81%E0%B4%A4%E0%B5%8D%E0%B4%A4%E0%B5%8Dthere is some place where there are details of who has authored the page. I hope it is possible for you to connect with that author and request for correction in that page.I hope you understand what I am trying to say.Regards.DineshOn Tue, Mar 11, 2025 at 10:03 PM Sam Kuzhalanattu <samkuzh...@gmail.com> wrote:Dear Dinesh ji,The correct Malayalam name is ഗന്ധം കൊളുന്ത് gantham kolunthu. Here ഗന്ധം gantham means smell or fragrance or odour and കൊളുന്ത് kolunthu means sprout leaves or young shoot of plant, simply we can say it as an inflorescence. And I think kantham koluthu is an error occurred while translation. For example, the plucking of young shoots of tea plant is very common and here this work is simply known as കൊളുന്ത് നുള്ളൽ kolunthu nullal, നുള്ളൽ nullal means plucking. I am sure, the correct matching name is ഗന്ധം കൊളുന്ത് gantham kolunthu relating to botany. You can think it as a modified name, but not.Regards, Sam.
Ok dear Dinesh ji.
