Looking at Sweedle Cerejo’s photographs of Topli Karvi flowering at Kas Plateau in Maharashtra I am putting up a photograph I took in September 07 of Common Conehead, Carvia callosa, in Sanjay Gandhi National Park(SGNP), Mumbai. Mass flowering is supposed to take place this year after an eight-year gap. Looking at the leaves of Topli Karvi it appears to be Hill Conehead flowers.
As per Isaac Kehimkar’s book a good side benefit of mass flowering of Karvi “…brings exceptionally high yield of dark amber honey…”.
We have seen mass flowering of Bamboo in SGNP in December 07 and we now wait to see gregarious flowering Karvi. Both are spectacular highlights for those having a keen interest in flora.
