This interesting looking wild species Cucurbita foetidissima was found growing at Mariposa near Yosemite valley in california. The plant known as Fetid wild pumpkin, Calabazilla, Buffalo gourd or Missouri gourd is a foetid perennial herb with massive underground tuber. Young green fruits are cooked as vegetable but when yellow and ripe they become bitter and not edible.
